Knicks send Isiah to Europe

Isiah Thomas is living the life. While Mike D'Antoni was being introduced at a Garden press conference Tuesday, Thomas was far, far away - scouting in Europe, The Post has learned. According to a source close to Thomas, president Donnie Walsh dispatched Thomas last week to France and Italy. Walsh wanted him to scout two lottery possibilities in Danilo Gallinari and Nicolas Batum.

Isiah scouting talent for the Knicks? Thanks FN, I needed a good laugh this morning!

But he's been a good scout and drafted well, no? They'd have to pay him either way, so might as well get him to do something.

Dolan: "So Isiah, we've got a lead on some hot prospects over in Afghanistan, Iran and Iraq. We know you are the perfect guy to land them for us. From there you'll head to Myanmar and then there's a couple of Siberian guys we need you to check out. Your plane leaves in 3 hours. We also wanted to send you to Detroit but we didn't want you to think we hated you or anything. Have a great trip!"

OH how the mighty have fallen! If there were a sports jail he would be in death row

Here are two headlines you never want to see on the same day:

"Daly hints at joining Euro tour"
"Knicks send Isaiah to Europe"

Guess who our next lumbering oaf of a big man's going to be...?

Report Offensive Comment

Not far enough. I'm thinking Siberia..

As long as they keep him overseas they can at least try to clean up his mess. They need to buy him out and take a loss... as long as he is anywhere with this club.. they will be in a mess. He is clueless and clearly needs to stay away from anything but announcing... not sure if he can even do that.

Free trip to Italy and France, and all he had to do was be terrible at his job and sexually harrass fat ugly women. I should have been sent a few times

So you suck at your job and chase fat ugly women? Not sure I'd have admitted all that but hey,...thats what we're here for.

Hey, when you find your niche you stick with it

So let me get this straight, he is going to be scouting? Oh boy, the Knicks are in trouble (even more than before).

Report Offensive Comment

Like someone said they are paying him anyway. You just go with the Costanza plan and think the opposite of whatever he says about a prospect.

Report Offensive Comment

Real Sports, actually Thomas is good at scouting young talent. That's how they stockpiled all the young talent, before trading it all away. He just doesn't understand the concept of putting a team together. You know, different positions and little things like that.

In the end, Isiah has the last laugh, whether we like it or not.
He essentially gets free trips to Europe, and all he has to do is evaluate the way prospects play.
If he had been fired from an ordinary day job, he would not get paid anything afterward.
Now, he gets two benefits. First, he gets paid millions of dollars even though he does not have to do the work of a head coach nor a GM. If he were to sit back on a beach somewhere, that benefit alone would be incredible. Now, he gets his trips to Europe paid for on top of that. Talk about a double whammy.

Isiah: "Danilo Gallinari is the next Lebron James"

Report Offensive Comment

Isn't this the same guy that scouted Jerome James, then decided to reward him with a $30 million contract? It would be cheaper to just pay him to go away.

Report Offensive Comment

I don't think Walsh will care about Isiah's opinion. They temporarily got rid of a distraction while the team focuses on rebuilding and finally getting their new coach.

He might do well in France. They do think Jerry Lewis is a genius.
