Brewers may look for pitcher

Posted: Thursday May 15, 2008 07:41AM ET

Brewers owner Mark Attanasio said Wednesday there is flexibility in the team's payroll to get another starting pitcher should the loss of Yovani Gallardo prove too much to overcome. Gallardo underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn ACL in his right knee. He is presumed lost for the season, creating a void the Brewers never expected after Gallardo returned three weeks ago from a minor pre-season knee injury. Should general manager Doug Melvin find another pitcher available, at the right price in terms of trading personnel, Attanasio said he'd be given the financial leeway to do so.

It's Hot!

Rank: 6

It's Not!

They have talent and clearly need a strong pitcher to contend..

Name me 6 teams that aren't looking for AT LEAST ONE more pitcher . . .

Wonder if Greg Maddux would waive his no trade clause to go pitch for his brother Mike? That would be interesting

Why don't they carve up Gagme and make little pitchers out of him?

Report Offensive Comment

Good idea Truth. Gagme has poops bigger than us. I'm sure they could get 3-4 arms out of it!

Report Offensive Comment

Oh, one problem with that, they will just create a bunch of little sucky pitchers

Report Offensive Comment

Good news is the Crew just signed Ryan Braun to a 7 yr deal

Report Offensive Comment

The bad news is it's Ryan Braun

Report Offensive Comment

THAT WAS EXCELLENT !!! SOUP FOR YOU !!!

Braun is the number one priority on this team. Very very good news.

They need to trade Gwynn Jr. and Bush for someone. I wish they hadn't signed old man Cameron, I like Gwynn alot, but we are wasting him and really need an arm bad. I don't understand why we got Cameron. Gwynn is young, fast, fundamentally sound, a good fielder, I don't get it.

PS - Fire Ned Yost.

Report Offensive Comment

Trade Gwynn to the Padres for an arm, I'd do that trade in a heartbeat, as long as the pitcher wasn't Young or Peavy.

Report Offensive Comment

Yeah local boy - everybody is looking for another pitcher.

Problem is - the cupboard is bare in their farm system. From what I understand - they have no younbg arms ready for the majors.

Gwynn to San Diego for Greg Maddux?

What this world coming to?

Wang, why the great wall of china private profile?

Gallardo will come back all healthy if his teammates have faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ.

It's that simple!
