Really- who cares anymore- 'student athelete'
what a joke- this kid came to KU for ONE REASON
to get to the NBA.
if he 'uses' college GOOD FOR HIM.
the college certainly uses him..........
He has made millions in revenue for the college and is not allowed to get a dime other than an education/room/board...........

So three years ago a high school changed a students grade in math class and this is news now? And is it standard practice to give kids transcripts to the media?

Shouldn't the HS association in Texas be held accountable, and not KS?

How could admissions at KU possible have known this?

Why do people always go on a witchhunts against the champions ?

It's improper. Saying it has been going on forever doesn't make it right. It simply means the NCAA has to do a better job of investigating / clamping down. Always bad to find out about these things from the media - and I doubt it took too much digging to find out.

Things that would make it easier -
1) Dump the one-and-done rule (maybe replace it with a guarantee of college tutition for any HS player drafted that does not pan out??? I'm sure there are other ideas out there)
2) Make the D-league a credible minor league system.

In terms of Kansas being involved - if he went to class at KU and performed then I don't see a problem for them. His HS may have a problem though (imagine being a current student at that HS and having your transcripts questioned because of something over which you had no control.)

Odds are the grades were changed. The fact that he declared shouldn't stop an investigation into both his grades in HS and at Kansas.

The report is targeting the Dallas SOC high school, not Kansas. SOC has won 4 consecutive state basketball championships and has already been stripped of one title. The news report, which I watched last night, showed that Arthur's grades were changed and should result in SOC being stripped of 2 more titles. Cheating is the norm at athletic powers in the DISD. Kansas is only impacted because the kid didn't complete the eligibility requirements set forth by the state of Texas to receive a diploma. The NCAA Clearing House approved Arthur's eligibility based on information received from the high school. I think that KU is an innocent victim in this case and for the record, I'm a Lonhorn fan that lives in Dallas.

Nice timing. So he sux at math. I do too. I even cheated on my third grade multiplication tables. Now I'm married to an engineer, but maybe he should rethink that since I cheated on my math.

Do you know how many athletes in HS get their grades 'fluffed' so that they can play and stay eligble? This happens all the time. Not that it makes it okay to do.

This stuff has been going on for years. Theres little if anything that can be done about it until all schools are held accountable. Which won't happen. So let us all move along to the next story.

OK, I have to come clean. I actually had one of my grades bumped up from a 79% to a 80% at the Junior College to get admitted into the Engineering School. That was about 15 years ago. Hmm, so should all the highways and buildings I designed be taken away now or resigned? Oh, and the games that I played in for teams at the university?

Hmm, I must come clean. Someone, I won't say who, adjusted one of my grades from a 79% to a 80% so I would be accepted into the engineering school. That was over 15 years ago. So does that mean all the buildings sand highways I designed must be redesigned or something? And should that mean the companies I worked for and the highway department be sanctioned or fined in some way?

Aha!!! I knew it!!! I knew there was a reason for all those cunstruction guys standing around seamingly doing nothing and causing major traffic jams. It's tkinder's fault. If he had not had his grades altered then these guys would have blue-prints they could actually understand.

You see, there IS a reason for everything. I feel better now.

And who is going to pay for the THOUSANDS of new investigators the NCAA will have to hire to check in on all the 'cheats' ?
- wake up...this is not 1962. if they get a little $ on the side- so be it.

I honestly can see know way Kansas should at be in any way damaged by this during the national title season.

If his HS grades were altered and he was not eligible as a freshman then that season could be an issue (if KANSAS knew of the altered grades). However if he was eligible under NCAA rules for his sophomore year, he would have been fine and the national championship would not be affected.

The only way I can see this affecting Kansas is if it is proven they had knowledge of changed grades (which I doubt they had), or if Arthur himself had knowledge of the changed grades (which he may have). In either case I don't see it affecting this national title season.
