LeBron supports personnel changes

Posted: Monday May 19, 2008 08:36AM ET

LeBron James said he thinks the improvements now must come in personnel. After losing to an extremely deep and recently massively upgraded Celtics team, James said he thinks the Cavs need to follow in their path, even after the 11-player trade that they pulled off in February. "I think what we have is very good, but we need to continue to get better. We know that,'' James said. "If that means some personnel changes that need to happen, then so be it. The teams around us in the league are continuing to get better.''

No offense, but they need to change their style of offense from this 1-4 crap they have been playing the last few years, it gets no one else involved. How can other uys do better when LeBron dribbles up court, dribbles around the perimeter, and then drives to the basket taking almost the whole shot clock? The Cavs were much more effective in that series when LeBron was sucking and decided to create other shots and keep them fresh. It's funny because they were saying the same thing about Pierce yesterday, especially Jon "I'm a moron" Berry who said nobody else showed up for Boston. How can they when Pierce did the same thing, thank god his teammates played D.

its the truth. Mike brown needs to go

All they need is an agile 300lb bruiser that runs around and sets 50 picks per game for LeBron, they need to trade their draft pick for Glen "Big Baby" Davis, and groom him to become the best 1-2 punch in NBA history, I can see 15 yrs from now, he'll have his mini statuette next to LeBron's because all his powerful screens will have helped LBJ score 60 points per game at his peak and smash all types of records!

OMG that was an ugly game Sunday. Its hard to watch the Cavs.

I guess we've learned - if we hadn't already - one great player cannot beat five good players. And, as KCMAC929 has stated, having LeBron hog the ball on every offensive possession is NOT the formula for winning championships.

I think its time for Lebron to stop crying about his supporting cast. If he'd shot around 50% for the series, he'd have a valid point. But the fact is he was abysmal for much of it, and it was the play of his teammates that kept a lot of these games close. After a certain point you need to stop pouting about personnel and ask what you've done to make your team better. Lebron isn't doing much at this point.

see ya next season, one-man-team...

No offense but Lebron needs to take a page from Kobe's book last year and trust his teammates. They had no ball movement at all...it was all Lebron and although Pierce did the exact same thing on the Celtics end, several Celtics players made key shots when it counted and that was what got them the win.

The Cavs had every opportunity to take this series but everyone was waiting for Lebron to take over.

LeBron just like the human highlight reel will have only his nickname "human stat sheet" and nothing more.

LeBron, I heard that collective sigh of relief in Boston yesterday. If Gibson's healthy, I think y'all win that game. Get another scorer and y'all will be alright.

The Cavs did beat the number 1 Pistons last year. But yes, Lebron alone is not enough. The didn't even win one game against the Spurs in the NBA finals. At this rate, the Cavs will be good enough to make a pretty good run in the playoffs, but they will never be good enough to win the NBA Finals.

I was very disappointed in LeBron James. Bigger than most of his peers on the court, he seems to flop at the slightest touch, and whines on one of the few occassions a call doesn't go his way. It seemed to me that the refs treated him like Jesus out there. Am I wrong?

He puts the "L" in LeBron. Never heard a guy want to be remembered for losing a game until LeBron's post-game yesterday.

Lebron needs more help and another offensive system. You can't keep running pick & rolls every time down the court. That being said, his teammates needed to step up. Big Z was 2-8, Wally 0-3, & Sasha 3-8. That won't get it done in game 7 on the road.

You're all right...on the other hand...how many of you think the Celtics will get past the well rested Pistons with just one day's rest. I say Pistons take at least game 1 in Boston and since Boston has proven they can't win on the road, I give it to the Pistons in 6.

I'm not gonna rag on Lebron like everyone else seems to do...the fact remains that he has not had consistant offensive help...the trade improved the team slightly (moreso defensively)...but they need someone there who is at least an 18ppg scorer (don't know who's available b/c I haven't checked)...it's been proven time and time again 1 man can't win it by himself no matter how good he is (and Lebron is BEYOND good)!!

kobe does not trust his team if that was the case the series would have been done in fame 6. I saw Kobe taking stupid rushed shots and forgetting the reason they got to ot in the first place Derek Fishers hot hand instead of feeding the hot hand he tried to take over. Kobe wants to be a headliner Lebron has to be he has no supporting cast. With the exception of Booby wo was injured. If you had added him in the game Boston would be going home right now

D'You guys see McDyess's mask? Did he steal it from Hamilton, or do they share one?

LaBron is right, if Cleveland is going to take the next step, changes are needed, and they start with him. The key contributors are in place for success so the obvious this is to trade James while his over-inflated stock is high as he will never win a championship until he learns how to be a #2 option and they acquire a legit #1. James is a scorer and that is all he will ever be. Cleveland needs a player who can carry the whole team and that makes those around him better and for James to accept a secondary role or submit to a trade for the betterment of the team.

Kobe has a MUCH better supporting cast than LeBron. Contrary to popular belief, Kobe isn't trusting his teammates any more than he ever has. Both his assists and field goal percentage were DOWN this year. Gasol just hide a lot of his mistakes.
