Nuggets, Nets discuss blockbuster
Posted: Monday May 19, 2008 02:54PM ET
Multiple league sources said the Nets and Nuggets have discussed a blockbuster deal that would bring Anthony and Marcus Camby to New Jersey. In return, Denver would get a package that includes Richard Jefferson, Marcus Williams, Keith Van Horn's contract and the Nets' lottery pick. There likely is more involved to make the salaries match up, but the sources said the trade could happen, making Tuesday's draft lottery even more important.

Keith Van Horn's Contract could be a real force next year and get the Nuggets past the first round of the Playoff.
The Nuggets will no longer be the official NBA playoff doormat

Report Offensive CommentI still don't like the idea of Melo in New Jersey (or Brooklyn if that arena ever gets built) but this trade doesn't really hurt the Nets that much. At least the keep Harris and a team of Camby, Kristic, Melo, Carter, and Harris isn't that bad. It's at least a 4 or 5 Seed in the East team.

Report Offensive CommentA change of location will do Melo a ton of good. He has top 5 ability but it needs to be motivated. A move away from Denver and maybe another coach (though I dont think Frank is that guy) will light a fire under him

Report Offensive Commentjust curious why arent the Bulls, Mavs, Hawks steppin up to try and get Melo
They got more pieces!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Report Offensive CommentCarmelo Anthony is top-5 talent with a 10-day contract brain. He is and will always be a guy who will put up hollow numbers and win squat. He should want to stay in the West, so he'll have a perennial excuse for not winning due to the tough conference. If he goes to the East his team will get dispatched by whoever LeBron is playing for every year.

Report Offensive CommentThis trade makes no sense. It's not like either team is a player or two from playing in the finals. They will both be second tier teams, with or without the trade.

Report Offensive Commentthis tarde doesn;t make any sense for the nuggets. Why trade away your superstar and your best defensive player, which the nuggets don't even play (defense) and then you get jefferson, who's alright and then a lottery pick which might not even be a top 10 pick.
Wutdafuxupwitcndy | 05/19/08, 04:39 PM
Report Offensive CommentI like this trade. Both teams need change, and they each get pieces they need. This doesn't help Denver on defense, but they do get about as good of a replacement for Anthony as they can in Jefferson. The lottery may get them a decent player, and Marcus Williams still has the potential to be a good starting p.g. in this league, and would be an excellent addition to A.I. in the backcourt.
New Jersey lands an explosive inside-out scorer, though him, and Carter may have a few problems sharing. That team landing a HEALTHY Marcus Canby though would be instant playoffs in the East, maybe even 4th, or 5th seed.
With that said, I could really care less about either team, and weather this trade happens or not.

Report Offensive CommentThis does not make any sense for Denver. They would give up two of there three best players for bloated contracts and some mid-level draft picks. If I was NJ I would do it in a second.
