Red Sox still dangling Tavarez

Julian Tavarez never became a free agent, technically, and his acceptance of the assignment possibly caught some teams off guard. Once they get a look at him pitching in the minors and/or a spot opens up on their big league club, an interested team, such as the Rockies or Brewers, could then be more amenable to working a trade with the Red Sox. The Sox quite possibly will have to eat much of the remainder of Tavarez' $3.85 million 2008 salary.

Tavarez is no longer an option. He was mostly good during his career..

JFKJR, what makes him a 3/4 starter? His 5.35 era over the last three years or his 279 hits allowed in 241 innings? Or his 16 loses?

I'm just sayin. The poor Rockies don't even want him.

Yes, Tavarez is/was the ugliest player in the MLB... That may be a good throwdown... Ugliest player in baseball - or - sports.

jfk....I think you're getting up way too early to be the first poster.

If you claim that taverez could be a 3/4 starter for a lot of teams like the pirates or texas then that would really make him a 7/8 starter, which pretty much puts him in the pen, where he belongs.

don't get me wrong, but I think pap is farting in that pic!

Papelbong sure is happy that tavarez is gone. Hate to say this but would the Yanks even think about it for a long relieve guy to cover Mussina's 2/3 of an inning starts. Seriously though I thought when designated for assignment he could become a free agent after X amount of time?
