Marlins, Cards ask about Rockies

Posted: Saturday July 05, 2008 08:31AM ET

Florida has shown initial interest in Rockies catcher Yorvit Torrealba, and center fielders Willy Taveras and Scott Podsednik. With the emergence of Chris Iannetta this year, the Rockies would listen to offers for Torrealba, who is signed through next year. With Taveras, Podsednik and Ryan Spilborghs at the major league level and Cory Sullivan at Colorado Springs, the Rockies have a surplus in center field. St. Louis, meanwhile, is asking around about right-hander Matt Herges to provide a veteran influence in the Cardinals bullpen.

It's Not!

I don't know what kind of deal we could work out with them. We have outfielders and a AAA catcher available. Colorado is already trying to deal both items.

That was a crazy game last night. The kind of game that can start giving a team some confidence big time. In a weak division. Rockies aren't dead yet.

Unless Herges can be had cheap, I don't want him. We've got plenty of grizzled veterans in the bullpen already.

Yorvit?
Prefer the name Yoda I do.

I wish the Red Sox would "inquire" about Chris Ianetta - might be the catcher of the future !!!

Many, many names in this story. Like start of some effing soap opera or something.

Yeah, I'm not interested in Herges much, unless he is pretty much given to us. He's be an improvement over Brad Thompson.....but not much over Perez or Springer.
