My mistake. Just pulled up his career stats, and didn't realise he was about even w/goals and assists. Still..would love to see Ovechkin and Hemsky together for a couple of shifts.

Supporting cast or not, 70 goals in 350 games does not warrant a player with more goals (72 ) in much less games (225) PLUS 2 other players. I like what I've seen of Hemsky, which is to say not a lot in the East, and I think he's a good player, but I gotta go with the numbers on this one.

Having watched Hemsky alot, it is safe to say that 90% of the OIler offense flows from #83's stick. Numbers aside, Hemsky is far more valuable than any other player on the Oilers, which makes him difficult to trade and increases his value from an Oiler standpoint. Will he be that valuable in Habland, probably not with all those offensive weapons, but his numbers would be higher playing with Kovolev. Consider the fact that the best player Hemsky has played with was Ryan Smyth...a guy who couldn't REACH the net with a slap shot from the blueline. Bottom line- Hemmer is our best player, excites the crowd, scores timely goals, and runs our powerplay...Oil fans would want something huge in return. Another factor is that he is young and is signed longterm for a bargin.

Agreed. Last year he finally started to shoot more and ended up with 20 goals first time ever. 19 once before? Easily the most talented Oiler.

I agree with most of whats been said here. Hemsky sure is talented. Its kind of frusrating sometimes when you see your player with open ice in the offensive zone looking for a pass when the logical thing is to blast the puck and go for a garbage goal. They all look the same on the stat sheet.

I love Hemsky's hands... I am doubtful the Oil will trade him. The Oilers need offense and experience, and Hemsky has both. The Habs and lots of other teams probably have made overtures about him, but Lowe would be silly to unload him, unless someone offered him the moon.

Now back to the Sundin speculation....

Watching Hemsky most of the year and seeing how he has developed since he has been an Oiler I will have to say I truely doubt that they are considering trading him. He's a fan favorite, they have him locked up for at least 5 more years at a reasonable salary and he's still a kid that is only going to get better. And he is one of their top true talents on the team. And Insane Hussain, not sure if you're knocking his toughness or not but if you are you're wrong. Unlike 87, he takes the hit (and he gets hit a lot) and gets up and back into the play without crying to the ref. Regher from the Flames loves to cheep shot him every time they play.
They just locked up Grebeshkov as well and he is following the same path as Hemsky in his early development.
