Price of trading Cabrera to L.A.

If the Marlins traded Miguel Cabrera, they probably would want three top young players, and they always love pitchers. Figure three from the Dodgers' group of Chad Billingsley, Jonathan Broxton, Matt Kemp, James Loney, Andre Ethier, Tony Abreu, Andy LaRoche and Clayton Kershaw.

That is a pricey trade but worth it. It's what LA has been missing for the last 6 years: A good hitter

Lifetime averages: .330 BA, 41 homers 120+ RBIs.

Report Offensive CommentI'd be a little worried about Cabrera's weight gain over the last few years.

Report Offensive CommentIf the Dodgers get a big hitter, they could go far in the playoffs. They need a slugger. I would take him, even if he is getting rather large.

Report Offensive CommentThe kid started playing when he was 20 years old, is in his fifth season without a significant injury, has a lifetime .314 avg and 120 HR's. The Marlins would be INSANE to give this kid up.
Keep dreamin', Dodgers...
Although, IF the Marlins did trade away Cabrera, I have a Sega Genesis they might be interested in. I'll throw in both controllers, too!

Report Offensive Commentcabreras a good hitter, but hes not a good third baseman, and hes slow as heck

Report Offensive CommentDodgers get on the ball and do it. Billingsley, Loney, Either, Abreu and Kemp will stay with the Dodgers.
Send LaRoche, Broxton and Kershaw
and you receive Miguel Cabrera, high risk, high reward.

Report Offensive CommentThat picture is Miguel Olivo. Cabrera is #24.

Report Offensive CommentThey messed up a couple of pictures today. Thanks for clarifying, Striker.
The Dodgers should make that trade in a hearbeat and give Cabrera the contract they wouldn't give Beltran. The Marlins can't afford to keep him so they might as well sell high.

Report Offensive Commentno the marlins can afford to keep him thats where your wrong...hes the only guy since they started fire selling that they actually want to pay to keep a guy.they always talk how hes the cornerstone of the franchise and thats why they keep him and not on and off agan D-train. unless they get some rediculous offer they can't refuse. exspect the marlins to keep and sign him....and for the guy up top who said hes not the next pujols...hes already ahead of pujols's pace for Hrs. and his average is just as good. everyone says he will be better than pujols if he keeps up this pace.
Uofmrules* BS | 06/21/07, 03:51 PM
Report Offensive CommentI keep hearing comparisons between Cabrera and Pujols (which are fair, mind you), but I think, in the long road ahead, Cabrera will be more the next incarnation of Manny Ramirez than of Pujols. He's already gaining the weight, his hustle is barely better than Manny's, he's got an extremely quick bat and is an RBI machine who can hit for average. Oh, and Cabrera is already sporting a funky hairdo.
Maybe in 10 years, we'll be saying, "Oh, that's just Miggy being Miggy..." Start making room in LF Sawks fans...

Report Offensive CommentCabrera can hit for power and contact making him a great fit for the Dodgers. Make the trade this guy is consistent!

Report Offensive Comment'and for the guy up top who said hes not the next pujols...hes already ahead of pujols's pace for Hrs. and his average is just as good. everyone says he will be better than pujols if he keeps up this pace.'
Then 'everyone' including you is on crack...
Pujols AVERAGES .330 with 41 homers and 120+ RBIs a year
Cabrera has never hit more than 33 homers in a season...he's ON PACE to hit 35 this year...
Cabrera AVERAGES .313 with 32 homers and 115 RBIs.
That's NOT Pujols numbers
Jimmer69 IS Darth Caedus! | 06/21/07, 05:15 PM
Report Offensive CommentOn top of that, Cabrera's career OPS is nowhere near Pujols, nor is his OBP or Slg % and he strikes out way too much...Pujols has NEVER struck out more than 100 times in a season...in fact he's only struck out more than 70 times in a season once...his first year...amazing for a power hitter...Cabrera has struck out over 100 in every full year he's played and is on pace to have 130 or so this year...
Jimmer69 IS Darth Caedus! | 06/21/07, 05:23 PM
Report Offensive Commentthat trade is worth it only if the dodgers could lock him up for the next 10 years. but if they only had him for a year or two it'd be a huge flop
