I have no problem with him being at the game so long as he is actually willing to be a man and answer the bell. Also, how else could Lucic check him through the glass if he's not at the game?
At the rate Ott is going, there is also the distinct possibility that he will have been banned from the league by the time they face one another next season...
Unfortunately, I don't see it being reversed based on the fact that he claimed to be healthy to other teams and the latest problem was diagnosed after the buyout, therefore the buyout was done in good faith by the Boston front office.
Would rather die before listening to Boston sports talk shows but highly doubt there has been any mention as all conversation would be on the other three teams in town. My point still stands in that there has been nothing written at ESPN or SI about it (besides here) not at TSN when I have looked... if its not making news at those outlets then there is very little ink on a sports subject.
I clearly do feel free to disagree... I already have! They are closer to being in the running for Tavarez than they are to being in the running for the Cup and Ott/Avery will be one of the main reasons. I even predict that Ott will be suspended at least once this season (more likely twice) and will take out an opposing player for a minimum of ten games this season.
Oh, and the Ott and Avery connection is only going to lead Dallas straight out of the playoffs...
So who do you want the twins (Ott and Avery) to try to take out next? How bout Hemsky? Or maybe Moreau? Hmmm... Horcoff is always a good option as well...
Avery will fight but only a select few people... Saturday he fought Andrew Ference... the same Andrew Ference who LOST to Crosby in his first bout. Did I mention that Ference was easily beating Avery before Avery called it quits and pulled out Ference's leg.
What a couple of jokes!
So Berard came too close to his slapper and gets clipped, seriously derailing but not ending his career. Hossa is deeply concerned by the play and feels remorse over an innocent act but continues to play without any further incident or dirty play in his career.
Meanwhile, Ulf high-sticks a talent player Mondou (194-262-456 in 548 games) and completely ends his career. He shows no remorse over this play, nor does he show remorse over delivering the blow that effectively ends Neely's career (only 9 games played in 91-92 following dirty play in 91 playoffs).
Yet Hossa is the dirty player and Ulf is not? Please explain to me how that makes ANY sense?!
Pulled straight off wikipedia after a two minute search.
"Later in the 1991 playoffs, in the Stanley Cup Finals, against the Minnesota North Stars, he delivered a knee on knee hit to Brian Bellows. In addition, he ended the career of forward Pierre Mondou with a high stick to the eye while playing for Hartford in a game versus Montreal March 9, 1985.[2], as well, he is believed to have ended the career of Cam Neely"
So that is three careers ended or derailed right there, included a stick to the eye. But its Marian Hossa who is the dirty player and not Ulf Samuelsson.
I have no problem with the violence in the sport and understand that at times, things will go to far. However, there are rules in place for a reason... to protect the players and therefore the on-ice product. Players like Ulf and Claude who constantly broke the rules were disgraceful to the sport though at least they had some talent to justify their existence. Same cannot be said for the useless Steve Ott... his only job appears to be to take out the opposing players. How many careers need be ended by him before he is stopped? How many careers were ended or seriously derailed by illegal hits from Ulf and Claude? Anything more than one is inexcusable.

Accepting the man equates to accepting the tactics. You wanting the man on your team means you want a reckless player who attempts to injure the opponent on any given night. Pathetic.
I never once said there was knee-to-knee... I said that Ott went low on two separate occasions and left his feet on a third. There is irrefutable evidence of two of these on the video link I provided earlier... only the Lucic low hit is not visible. All three actions were patently illegal in the NHL and are suspendable offenses as they are clearly intent to injure. In fact, Ott was suspended last year for that very thing... leaving his feet to deliver a blow to Jordan Leopold of Colorado. Ott is quite clearly a dirty player and if you want him on your team, so be it and you should be ashamed. So please, go ahead justifying their actions and pretend everything is okay, just don't complain when Modano or Morrow or some other Star is taken out by questionable tactics. It would only be retribution for the dirty play of Steve Ott.... I only hope someone beats the everlasting out of him before he does any serious damage to an opposing player (as he easily could have done to Yelle Saturday).
I personally would never want a player like Ott or Avery on the Bruins and am glad to see that we have never had a player of that 'caliber' since I started watching the sport. Maybe it has to do with Boston being an Original Six club and valuing the inherent honor of the game, all I know is they would never be accepted in this town. We may have had our thugs or dirty hits before (McSorely, McLaren) but I was ashamed of each of them and was glad when they were banished from Boston.
The Ference hit... just watched the replay for the tenth time to make sure... best I can tell, Ference had his elbow tucked in close to the body as you are supposed to. Oh, and Ott never repaid the favor... Ference was too busy pounding on Avery (before the cowardly ending) and then Ott asked the refs to be thrown out before Ference got back on the ice. See for yourself if you don't trust me.

Hnidy was merely defending his teammate. He saw Niskanen going into the fray (a fray caused by yet another illegal Dallas hit) and pulled him out to defend his teammate. And before you go complaining, maybe you should check their sizes... is 6'2" 205 (Hnidy) vs 6'0" 199 (Niskanen) really that much of a difference? If that is the case, why not complain that Ference (5'10, 190) had to fight the 'bigger' Avery (5'10, 195). Fact of the matter is, you don't enter into a situation like that without expecting to be fought... hell, even Phil Kessel was grappling with someone! You can't blame Hnidy for coming to the defense of his teammate... the Bruins players had been attacked illegally too many times for them to simply let it stand, simple as that. The only reason Boston had more PIMs was because the obvious intents to injure on Ott were not called... why, only the refs know.
Ah, but you condoned the actions of Ott and Avery the other night. Had you watched the game, you would have seen that Ott should have been called for intent to injure on at least two separate plays, if not a third. Avery could also have been called for that for his hit on Lucic. But I guess all is forgiven so long as the opposing teams skill players are removed from the games as well. But why just remove them for two minutes at a time? Why not just slewfoot them or do some knee-on-knee action a la Ulf? What is the difference?
I admit the knife comment was over the top but I was trying to make a point... if you justify their play for the fact that they remove opposing skill players from the ice with penalties, how do you not justify the same removal via injury?
