It was originally misdiagnosed as several concussions. When the team sent him for a second opinion it was revealed that he only had one true concussion and was suffering from post-concussion syndrome. He simply never gave it enough time to heal. Now that he has taken enough time to truly heal, he should be ok.

The calls on goaltender interference have almost all been wrong in this series, starting with Huet skating out of his crease into Hartnell in game 1(I think it was game 1). Honestly, the trail referee is the one to blame for the call in game 7. Koharski should have his eyes on the play on the puck in that situation. When he looks back to the net, all he sees is a Cap on top of Huet.

As for the penalty in OT, let's be serious guys. The refs were letting a lot of interference, roughing, and physical play go, but a clear trip is a clear trip. Poti clearly tripped Umberger. If you don't want to get called for it, keep your stick out of his skates. Of course, I understand the crying about it being a neutral zone play, but the Flyers deserved a penalty after another terrible non-call when Kapanen was tripped, which broke up a two on one.

To sum it all up, it's one thing to swallow the whistle to allow hard physical play, but it's another thing entirely when physical play turns into outright cheating.

I don't have the exact quote, but in an interview the guitarist said they thought of the name (It was the title of a live DVD) because no matter what Philadelphians are doing, they go all out, they kill it.

I'm not sure if you are being serious with your last bit, but no they are not Christian in any way shape or form, the name was originally meant as a joke because they were banned from venues because of their old name, Burn The Priest. If you are still interested you can find their music on purevolume.com.

On a broader note, we all have biases that we really can't remove. I'm never going to agree with you guys and you will never agree with me. I'm just trying to make sure that all Philly fans aren't tarred with the same brush. The truth is I lose my cool sometimes and say rash things, but I do respect other teams' fans. So please stop the comparisons between Philly fans and the murderers that unfortunately do walk the streets in this city.

Peace out guys.

I was sitting in section 417 of citizens bank park on Friday and anybody who claims that they were not cheering a potential injury to Reyes is lying. The nypost did not misrepresent the story at all. I even heard one particularly trashy fan say "I hope he's dead" before picking up his future inmate of a son so he could get a better look at a knocked out Reyes. Nice work by the way killadelphia, having a username that glorifies the violent culture of your city. Do you also cheer when starbucks manager's get beat to death on subway platforms?
theletterRisneversilent | 04/21/08, 10:49 AM

Well look, I can't speak for every fan that was there obviously, but nobody in my section was cheering him getting hurt. The immediate cheers from most fans were for what the crowd thought was a great play by Utley to even make the tag close. Saying that the outburst of applause was unanimously for Reyes' injury is a huge assumption.

Even the Mets fans that started a brawl two sections over from me could understand that we weren't cheering an injury. They just couldn't understand why people get mad when you throw hotdogs at them. (By the way, for all you folks complaining about a bad family environment, they hit a little girl.)

As for the username, it's actually a reference to one of my favorite bands, Lamb of God. It's a nickname they gave the city because of its intense passion for all aspects of life. But wow, yet another glaring assumption from you. I think I see a pattern developing here.

To the guy whose wife was called a ****... I think that would be preferable to going to a Jets game where hundreds of men would belligerently yell at her until she removed her top. Name calling vs. blatant sexual harassment... I think I'll take name calling.

Finally, we only need the jails because the people of Philadelphia get angry when we are expected to kiss NY fans' feet because they feel entitled to greatness. I'm not saying our fans don't start problems too, but you have to realize that it goes both ways. It's not just Philly fans getting out of hand.

well it goes to show you how rude, pathetic, annoying, and delusional their fans are. They win their first division title in 14 years and the fans think their team is the best team in baseball. As a yankee fan I can say that yes met and yankee fans are pretty obnoxious as well. But I could never cheer for someone who is down and out (maybe with the exception of manny ramirez). They are only cheering for reyes being down because there is kind of nothing to cheer for in philly. The phillies only have 1 world series title, at least the mets have 2. Sure the mets collapse last year was pretty bad but nowhere near the phillies 1964 collapse. they had a 6.5 game lead with 12 to play, and they lost 10 straight. at least the mets won a couple in their span. This board alone is a perfect example of how sluggish and thick-witted most people in that hell hole called philadelphia are.

Sorry buddy, but you expose yourself as the idiot you are through the rank hypocrisy of this statement: "But I could never cheer for someone who is down and out (maybe with the exception of manny ramirez)." Manny Ramirez is a flashy player that regularly kills the Yanks. Reyes is a flashy player that regularly kills the Phillies. If the Phillies' fans actually did cheer Reyes' injury(THEY DID NOT), how would it have been any different than what you admit you would do? That seems like some sluggish, thick-witted reasoning to me.

Phillyfool is yet another example of the single-digit IQs that originate from the City of Brotherly Love; but that's what you get for bedding your siblings. I have no problems when fans cheer good clean hits; but cheering that a player may be seriously injured and even worse - boooing when the outcome turns out not to be as bad as first assumed, is indicative of a true sub-human.
18and1Aintgettingitdone | 04/20/08, 07:11 PM

Leave it to the NY Post to misreport a completely benign incident and get Mets fans all riled up. There were no cheers for Reyes being injured. There were boos when the delay became extensive. Oh, also, I'll leave my siblings alone and stick to NY fans' sisters.

Now, to ALL the Mets fans out there:
Last year my buddies and I went to see the Phillies and Mets at Shea. The second I walked in the gates, obnoxious Mets fans were calling one of my black friends a filthy **** and saying all kinds of ridiculous things. One of the aforementioned fans got in my face and asked me what the hell we thought we were doing in NY. I simply told him we were touring the crappiest ballparks in the nation and decided to start with Shea. He immediately tried to take my head off and was escorted out of the park. So, yeah... Philly fans are the worst, right.

My bet is on Ambrosini being the first to leave. He has consistently underperformed this year, and his tackles just keep getting clumsier. I could see Seedorf going second, but I don't think it's likely. I can't see Pirlo or Gattuso going anywhere this summer though.

Come on man, we're not arrogant. We're just confident about how awesome we are. But seriously, Crosby does get some level of preferential treatment. Some fans just need to face up to that fact. I'm not gonna resort to name calling or saying that it is ruining the sport, but it does exist. I can't change it, so I'm just gonna hop on the broad st. septa line, go down to the wachovia center, if the flyers and pens happen to meet later in the playoffs, and have myself one hell of a good time.
Posted Thursday April 03, 2008, About: Flyers' shootout goalie dilemma
I think its ridiculous that not one person here has mentioned that Crosby threw several punches at Hartnell last night in a scramble in front of the net, then Hartnell got called for the penalty that made it 5 on 3. Crosby then put one home twenty seconds later. Not only was it a phantom penalty on Hartnell, it should have been 4 on 4 hockey with Crosby off the ice. And to top it all off, the refs also missed Hartnell getting butt ended with a high stick about ten minutes before that. That seems like one hell of a bad day.

No, Materazzi is also called animal. Gattuso's nickname is more commonly the snarler, growler, or even snarling dog, believe it or not. Pretty silly sounding nicknames for such a hard-nosed player if you ask me. They must sound more menacing in Italian.
Posted Monday March 17, 2008, About: Milan negotiating for Toni
Milan want Gerrard because Ambrosini has completely disappeared in the midfield this year. Yeah, he has had the occasional good performance, but overall he has been poor. However, I desperately hope that Gerrard stays put. I'm comfortable with a man without any class staying at a club without any class. I also doubt that the players Gerrard trashed in his book, such as Pirlo and Gattuso, would take that move lying down. I know Berlusconi and Galliani want to shake things up, but shaking them up in that way is a bad idea. However, I wouldn't mind seeing Toni or Drogba in Milan.
Posted Monday March 10, 2008, About: Fitzgerald not going to Philly
Eagles fans didn't boo McNabb. They booed the management for passing on Ricky Williams. Get your facts straight. Not all Eagles fans are ignorant. You can find some variety of inbred swine in any city in America. That doesn't instantly qualify an entire population as ignorant. As for leaving at halftime, I was at the Eagles Cowboys game in Philly this year. Even though the Eagles were getting smacked, not one fan in my section or any others nearby had left. The reason people love to rip on Eagles fans is simple. We tend to get carried away, and I'll be the first to admit it. Still, if you would have seen that sorry excuse for a Santa Claus, you would have booed too.
Posted Wednesday February 13, 2008, About: Kaberle could draw interest
I'd love to see Kaberle in a Flyers sweater, but I don't see it happening. The Flyers would have to give up too much. With Gagne out and Briere cold they can't really afford to give up any offensive talent. However, with Braydon Coburn out with a ruptured artery in his buttocks, the Flyers' need for a defenseman is starting to seem desperate. Who knows? I would love to see this kind of deal go down, but I cringe thinking of who Philly would need to send north to make it happen.
Posted Saturday February 02, 2008, About: Forsberg will return to NHL
Forsberg would be a great addition. However, he is not a cureall. The Flyers have a huge problem on defense right now. I don't mean that their defensemen are bad (except Hatcher). I mean the total team defense. Missed opportunities to clear the zone have led to more goals than I can count this year. Even players with normally solid two-way play like Richards have been breaking down of late. If Stevens can get his boys to work on their puck control in the defensive zone, they should be alright.
Posted Wednesday December 19, 2007, About: Inside Laraque's enforcer methods
Last Call... Your whole argument is based on your opinion that Crosby should be untouchable. Crosby unintentionally tripped Biron, but it is easy to see how Biron could have viewed it as a slue foot. Show me any goalie who wouldn't "get his dander up" if he felt a player gave him a slue foot. Every player has the right to protect himself, including Biron. His actions involving Crosby are by no means a justification for Laraque's slide.
Posted Sunday December 16, 2007, About: Inside Laraque's enforcer methods
I think that people are less angry about the actual play and more angry about the league's reaction. The lack of a suspension for a play that was admitted as being dirty just goes to show that the league can't view incidents involving the Flyers objectively. I understand that the league has to send a message to the organization with harsh suspensions and possibly a team fine, but letting behavior such as Laraque's go is inexcuseable. As I have commented before, the end result of an injury or no injury should have little bearing on a suspension. The intent with which the act was committed should be considered foremost. Even though Laraque's intent was not to injure, it was to deliberately send a message to a player whose position is normally excluded from the violence in hockey through a violent act.
Posted Wednesday November 28, 2007, About: Will Bruins seek revenge?
I'm a Flyers fan and Hartnell should have done more to hold up. I still don't think he could have avoided the hit completely. A suspension here is reasonable but Jones' suspension is still joke. A Kings player was recently hit in a nearly identical manner to Bergeron, but since he had his head up, the only punishment handed down was a minor penalty. While both of the hits in question could be considered dirty (and one definitely should be), both plays undeniably showed a Bruins player putting themselves in a vulnerable position. This is why I feel that only a two game suspension is deserved for Hartnell's hit.

I can only pray that milan don't go through with such a wasteful transfer. However, the part about emerson is interesting as this is the first I've heard of it.
