The Sox can get by with Crisp as a stopgap to Ellsbury who will be in CF in Boston by 2009 or could be pressed in next season as well. I don't see the Sox going after Hunter or Jones for the long term. But for the stretch run, I would be willing to trade Coco and a Kason Gabbard/Devern Hansack, and another low minor prospect for the rental and upgrade at the trade deadline.

He won't go anywhere for a few years. The Red Sox will keep him until it is a mutually agreed upon time to part ways. Then if the Yankees want to throw money his way, then at least he can't be viewed as a liar like Damon, just a traitor like Damon ;)

This made its way through some blogs yesterday, and I commented there and I'll say it again. The A's would be asking for way more than the Sox would be willing to part with for Harden. Why trade young pitching that could be great in Bucholtz and Bowden for a risky, but high upside Harden? The injury question just can't be overlooked.

There is no doubt that package would help the Yankees...but what could they give up to get them? I just don't see the Yankees having the talent to pull off a deal like this unless the Rox are desperate to unload Helton's contract like the Phillies were with Abreu last year.
