Posted Tuesday December 02, 2008, About: Portland-Memphis deal dead for now
They don't have the cap space TODAY. In two years, with expiring contracts and a couple of favorable moves, it could easily happen. Hell the Lakers have about 4 players making 14M or more (Kobe, Gasol, Odom, Bynum). With some smart moves, they could absolutely put themselves in position to try and get Lebron and still keep Roy, Aldridge, Oden, and Rudy.

Portland is trying to get in position to enter the Lebron Sweepstakes in 2 years. Lebron, Oden, Roy, Fernandez, Aldridge.. that could be a championship team in 3-5 years.

Yeah well KG has done something that Malone never did... win a ring. KG did what he had to do in the Finals while Malone famously shrunk from the spotlight in big games.

I'm glad there are some sensible comments here. What happened to guys not liking each other? I absolutely LOVE when the play gets "chippy". As long as Garnett isn't out there swinging on guys, I couldn't care less. If you want class, go to school. It's a basketball game, not a tea party. Save the "class" for afterwards.

Hall will be the nickle corner, if that... They've got Rogers and Springs.. they also have Smoot. Hall might actually be the dime back.

You don't reverse pivot and face up on the low block. From the low block, you have your basic fadeaway (which he shoots sometimes but it's not his favorite shot), a jump hook, or a drop step move. Kendrick Perkins is where they go for that stuff the majority of the time. Most of KG's post-ups come from the mid to high post where he can face and take his defender off the dribble and either get to the rim or shoot a step-back jumper. I'm done with this topic, but if you think KG is a dominant low-post scorer you need to watch more games.
Posted Thursday November 06, 2008, About: McDyess a Cavalier?
I think you're the one who doesn't watch basketball. Watch a game and see where KG's shots come from. He will post but most times he will reverse pivot and face up his defender. He also shoots a lot of jumpers from 20' and in. Probably 1 out of every 4 of his baskets comes off a legitimate post-up, back to the basket move.

You don't have to have a prototypical "low-post scorer".. the Celtics didn't.. they had a really good SG, a really good SF, and a PF who is more of a defender and mid-range jumpshooter. Most of their interior scoring came from Kendrick Perkins and Leon Powe.

When you have #23, all you need is good, solid players. McDyess can hit the open mid-range shot consistently (which is going to be there pretty much 100% of the time when Lebron is on the floor and Lebron is going to find you). McDyess gives them some toughness too and he's a real professional.... something that will be good in the lockerroom.
He's not going to "put them over the top" but he's another good piece of the puzzle. If you've got Lebron, Mo Williams, and McDyess on the floor, you've got 3 legitimate guys who are willing and able to make a big shot down the stretch of a tight game. D-West has also proven he has some nutsack. He was the only one who showed up for Game 7 in Boston besides Lebron.

Hopefully it WILL start to go down some.. maybe then some of these ham-n-eggers will actually be motivated to improve and win rather than just making it to the weekend and collecting a fat check that's more than most of us make in a year.

He hasn't had any major knee issues for years now. He could've been what Amare Stoudemire is now, if not for those knee injuries though. He's an extremely solid role player now. He could take the place of Joe Smith, who I think was a major loss for the Cavs.
Posted Wednesday November 05, 2008, About: Source: Ellis dared Warriors to void contract
I can see both points of view.. he shouldn't have been performing a restricted activity and he should be punished, but don't talk crap and make threats.. either void the contract or don't.. if he comes back healthy, he'll be in high demand
Posted Wednesday November 05, 2008, About: Report: Raiders cut Hall
At this point D-Hall can't cover his eyes with his hands.. his technique is pitiful and he thinks he can make up for it with speed and athletic ability.. maybe in college, but not on Sundays.

Funny how you call him Lebrick when he shoots a higher FG% than Kobe the last few years.
Posted Tuesday November 04, 2008, About: Pistons preparing to pursue LeBron
Yeah.. he only averages nearly 8 assists per game and will defer a shot to a teammate with the game on the line rather than forcing one.. but he's not a team player.. right.
Posted Tuesday November 04, 2008, About: Pistons preparing to pursue LeBron
Lebron could co-exist with Kobe because Lebron commands respect and he'll tell Kobe where to stick it face to face rather than media sniping (although I did hear Shaq smacked the crap outta Kobe a time or two). Lebron was the unquestioned leader of the Olympic team and he'll say what needs to be said and do what needs doing. Having said all that, I think Kobe's ego would explode if Lebron came to LA, therefore it will never happen.
Posted Tuesday November 04, 2008, About: Pistons preparing to pursue LeBron
Never happen.. unless Kobe, Gasol, or Bynum somehow comes off the books. Kobe is due $23M in 09-10 and he can opt out afterwards. He then has $24.8M due after that unless he signs a new deal somewhere. Gasol is signed through 2011 and he's due $17.8M in 10-11. Bynum is signed through 2013 and he's due $13.8M, $15.2 and a team option for $16.5 in 2013. One of those huge salaries has to come off the books if they're gonna afford Lebron, who will command a minimum of $20M/year.

Somehow the smack from Spurrier just isn't the same when he's coaching a mediocre team of his own.
Posted Tuesday November 04, 2008, About: Study: MLB's worst fielder is...
salvaje50.. he was never great.. he was above average at one time.. anybody not named "Jeter" would've had to move when ARod came to town (because ARod is a MUCH better defensive SS than Jeter)
Posted Monday November 03, 2008, About: USC's Carroll finds humor in BCS
Florida lost to an unranked team.. at home. SC can't help that the Pac-10 sucks. They schedule very well non-conference. Virginia won 9 games last year. Notre Dame is a rivalry game. Ohio State has played in the last 2 title games. What else can you do for a schedule?
Florida and Texas aren't "clearly" anything. Florida is looking good now but they've looked ordinary at other times. Texas' secondary is horrible. In fact, if you put them up against OU again, I'd pick OU all day. I'll take SC's defense against anybody in the top 10 so it's not "clear" to me at all, which just illustrates how messed up the BCS is. If a bunch of teams have the same record, there's no logical way you can say this team or that team is better without actually playing the games.
