you know what is funny. The only people who think OSU has a great academic institution and a great football team are the fans and the alumni.

Example. OSU doesn't have the recievers to compete against legitamate competition. Any good D coord with a fast secondary will just put 9 guys at the line and stop wells. Secondly boekman is a joke, he is not a big time college QB capable of winning a national title.

Now I quarentee, every OSU fans post on here will have RANKINGS and some stat from against a MAC school. Trying to tell us how good they are. LIKE I SAID THE ONLY PLACE THEY ARE GOOD ARE IN THEIR FANS MIND.
Sorry i didn't spell check this before i posted, I dont have that kind of time.

No wing you havent shut me up. you haven't posted anything on here worth a response. And Unlike you my work week starts on monday, and like everyone else that has a real job were not posting on message boards at 12:03 am on a Monday. Regardless of what you say, just remember my colleges roots are at Princeton and Harvard, your colleges roots are somewhere between betsy the cow and the cornfield in circleville.

And while I'm on here I might as well respond to your buddy rockhound. In regards to the 80% numbers, if you truly are on the faculty at OSU. Then you know as well as I do, that if those numbers are kept in regards to classes taught by TA's then OSU would NEVER make them public. But since you kept asking, I'll respond. A good friend of mine turned down a prof job at OSU because he said "I got into this to be educator and with the research requirments at OSU. I'd never see the classroom, they are more concered about the research you can do, so they can get their name it in the paper." But you wouldn't know about research requirments, your posting on message boards at 2 am just like wing.

Wow, wing i thought you were an educated guy someone capable of having an intelgent conversation about football and academics and blocking out all the fodder on here, But ever since you got called out on your Baker story you went off the reservation. Makes me wonder if anything you posted on here is true.

Elmer Bryan was the first president to come to Ohio U from harvard in 1921, then baker in 1945, but the most influential harvard man to come to Ohio U was Vernon Alden he did alot for the University and those three men serving as president from 1921 - 1969 is where the reference came from. But at that time OSU was Still an agricultural school. Ohio A &T i think was, so were probably to busy farming to know what was going on.

The red brick has been there since 1804, take a look at the first buildings which are still standing on campus. So they must not have been in too bad of shape and were never completly torn down. Cutler hall you can find it on any campus map it was the first building. Nice try though, it must have taken you a while to come up with all that.

Spewing out rankings and a made up story. thats cute.

John Groce knows where the best school in Ohio is.

Not to mention we just recieved the largest donation that ANY school in Ohio has EVER recieved. 102 million from the Russ family.

My guess is, if rockhound really is faculty at Ohio State. He is an English professor. Because while his posts are grammatically correct and articulate. He really doesn???t make any points or use logic. For all the words he uses in his posts, they really lack substance.

The fact that we are a top party school and a top institution in more evidence. If we can go out all night and still get to class, there something to be said for that

I noticed you threw that in there at the end, but missed it as you were spewing out numbers. The Scripps journalism shcool at OU IS the BEST in the country. And just like your football team you can throw all the rankings and numbers out there you want. But in both instances I have yet to see the QUALITY. So if you have lived in Ohio for many years, you are familiar with the Phrase "Harvard on the Hocking". That is phrase based is on reputation and while OSU has had many names in its years, it started as an Agricultural school 40 years after OU was founded, it has never had a name or a reputation used in the same sentence as HARVARD. That's the difference between numbers and ranking and street credit.

I completely understand that the Ceramic engineers and guys like graig krenzel, molecular biologists, are smart dudes, and there are only a few places in the entire country where you can get that type of education. Ohio State being one of them. But those type of students and programs are great for TV commercials and propaganda. They represent such small portion of the overall graduates, the quality of your teachers, engineers, and business majors is not up to par with the other universities. Those are majors where so many of the faculty aren't involved in the classroom except to give the TA the syllabis. And while all the great minds that come out of your specialized programs are great, the majority of your students are pushed through like a "cattle call???

And I work in Miami now, and have been on two Multi billion dollar projects. One with Miami international airport and one with everglades restoration. Programs that involve multiple engineering firms and multiple disciplines of engineers, and I have yet run across an OSU grad down here. ". That is what university should be judged on. The masses, not the elite select few.

Let???s see, the company I worked for in COLUMBUS OHIO was owned by a former OSU student, didn???t graduate but a huge OSU fan. The year I was hired they hired 3 people, 2 from OU and one from OSU. That brought the total in the company to 7 for OU and 2 for OSU. I'd think that a company in OSU???s back yard would have a better ratio. I mean, if OSU is pumping out such great engineers in such great numbers. Not to mention, the two other companies that I interviewed with before that told me ???we only hire out two schools OU and Akron???. I have no doubts about the quality of my degree.

But keep resorting to posting simple statements saying your better with no rational or logic. You just keep proving my point.

Rockhound,

let me ask you this. Would you rather have a pie from the pie factory in the city or from the old lady down the street that makes it by hand?

Bottom line is all those degree programs and specialized majors make for great TV commercials for your University but what good is if is there no jobs in those fields. You ever hear the saying, "I'd rather be great at one thing, than good at a lot of things"
Posted Sunday June 29, 2008, About: Tressel crushing Rodriguez?
Wow, rockhound that makes perfect sense because the demand for PHD's in the ceramic engineering is field is through the roof. I would estimate that fewer than 1% of the student body is in these "specialized" majors, That's why other schools don't offer those programs because there is no demand in the job market for them. So the majority of the students are in the same programs that everyone else is in at other schools, the programs that are hiring. So back to my point, you have 50, 000 other students with same dergree how much can it be worth?

Also, the more students you have the more classes and bigger size classes you have. Yes, OSU has the latest technology but what good is it if you have some TA or grad student teaching the class and not the proffessor who is actually doing the research on the technology. Feel free to look it up, 80 percent of the classes that are taught at OSU are taught by the TA, not by the proffesors. Thats not the case at smaller, "normal enrollement", schools. Huge classes taught by a TA, not excatlly the best learning enviroment. But please enlighten us more with your vast knowledge of higher education.

"What's your major?
Sanskrit.
Sanskrit? You're majoring in a 5000 year-old dead language? Get out of here."

My undergrad is from OU, in civil engineering, I worked with OSU grads for a while I've seen their QUALITY. i dont see how it can possibly be harder to get into. OSU takes 15,000 freshman every year, OU takes about 3,000.
