Second, what off ice stories? He goes all out for his team every game, and when he is not able to play, (because he goes so hard), he is still there supporting. He also supports the organization through the various Garden Charity events. So what if he does an internship in the off season. It's a summer job, and I am sure he will report into which ever training camp fit and ready to go.
He was not a forgotten name on the Red Wings or Kings, and he will have a huge impact, for the positive, for what ever team he plays for.
I say a 2 yr deal at $7.5 mil. See how he recovers from this recent injury. Maybe a conditional no-trade in there too.
He reminds me of Esa Tikkanen, blowing kisses at people during the game. 4 yrs at $16 mil is not that bad, especially considering he puts up numbers similiar to Malone, and look what he got.
Rangers should keep him, but if they don't, they'll regret it.
