Arn't the Chargers like 25-7 in the regular season since Brees left (and 1-1 in postseason)? Maybe you think Brees is better right now than Rivers, BUT to keep Brees the Chargers would have had to take a HUGE cap hit which would have hurt them in many other ways (i.e. not being able to have room to sign Merriman, Castillo, Gates, Phillips.......down the road).....and Brees had gotten hurt at the end of the 2005 season (hurt a already weak throwing arm) which made it easy to decide.
