So, next season Indy Lawrence North will have a 6'9 Purdue verbal, 6'9 Kentucky verbal, 6'9 Louisville verbal, and a highly rated 6'7 JR. amongst a ton of other underclassman D1 recruits. Talk about a choke job if they fail to win the Indiana 4A Title like last season. Also, good karma for Louisville considering the past 2 skilled big men out of LN, Greg Oden and Eric Montross(North Carolina), played for a National Championship. Throw in Sean May from Bloomington North and Carolina's past 2 NCAA Titles where won on the backs of Indiana bred Centers.

HA HA Funny Blues! I forgot about that line. It was actually true as well considering Roundtree is buried deep on the Michigan depth chart.

He may be playing in mediocrity, but he'll still be receiving a solid education. Also, take a look at the recent DE's Purdue has developed into NFL Millionaires as DE's or rushing LB'ers:

Shaun Phillips, Ray Edwards, Rosey Colvin, Akin Ayodele, and Anthony Spencer.

Think your selling your boys short. Georgia will not lose a home game this season. Too good and Sanford will create havoc on the opposition when Georgia gets the momentum. The stretch of @LSU, Florida in Jax, @ Kentucky, and @ Auburn could be tough to escape without a loss. I think a win @ Arizona State and Georgia will be playing for a National Title appearance in the SEC TItle game even if the Dogs have 1 loss. I don't see anyone in the Big East, Big Ten, Big 12, or ACC running the table this year. USC could if they get by Ohio State.

That and Tiller made the mistake of trying to increase the talent instead of developing 2 and 3 star recruits who believed in Tiller's system. We started pulling in better talent that turned out to be head cases and cancers in the lockerroom. Nothing wrong with finding better talent, but a developmental program like Purdue can't afford to have it's system interrupted by self appointed stars.

No kidding! Best game I've ever been to was when Brees hit Morales for a 60 or so yard TD pass LATE in the 4th to beat Ohio State during our Rose Bowl run. We could surprise some people with a 9 or 10 win season this year behind Painter's arm and a lot of returning talent.

Michigan State @ California is on at the same time as Clemson/Bama with both being on ABC. Looks like I'll have to find a bar carrying the Clemson/Bama game because that one carries far more significance. Could finally be a make or break year for Bowden and the break could be as early as week 1.

Purdue. Sometimes it can be very painful to support mediocrity, but I have to pull for the alma mater!

Dwight. Settle down. Those 6 games were split. SEC_PAC. I'm in the same boat as you. I've traveled the country fairly well and have a general love of College Football in any conference. Two of my favorite teams are actually South Carolina and Georgia since I usually spend some time there in the summer. But I'm a Big Ten alum, so I enjoy the Big Ten the most due to regional and work related rivalries. I guess I don't really understand how true fans of the game can so easily dismiss rivalries and programs that make college football great for something as silly as "conference pride."

@ Arizona State this season is still an impressive game. I wouldn't take a Denis Erickson coached team lightly. The one Big Ten team that needs to step it up on scheduling is Wisconsin. Especially considering Mad Town is not an easy place to play. Even moreso if they could get a Southern team in there in November.

This is the first time in AGES that Georgia is playing an OOC game outside of the South. Their opponent is weaker than the USC team Ohio State will play in The Coliseum. Do you have factual evidence to suggest Ohio State and/or Michigan turned down home and home's with Georgia, Florida, or LSU? I wouldn't even think Florida had any openings considering they see Miami and FSU in OOC play.

Blyson:

1. Ohio State is one the Top 5 producers of NFL talent. This is fact. The NFL likes speed. This is fact. How exactly is Ohio State lacking speed just because they weren't good enough to beat the SEC's best team? How exatly did Ohio State's NFL laden D of '02 completely shut down Miami's vaunted O?

2. Current Upper tier Big Ten teams like Penn State, Wisconsin, and Michigan have each recently BEATEN an SEC team in the SOUTH. Why exactly are they afraid of scheduling a home and home with the SEC?

Apparently every Bowl game the Big Ten has won against the SEC or Big 12 over the past few years doesn't count. The Big 10 and SEC have actually split(3-3) thier Bowl games in past 2 seasons, but I guess the only head to head matchups where when Ohio State played. Are people seriously criticizing the Big Ten for not playing a Conference Title game? Hello geniuses! The NCAA won't let a Conference have won without 12 teams. The Big Ten President's won't even approve a 12th member unless said school has strong academic achievements outside of athletics. Speaking of which, wake me up when the SEC acquires athletic academic standards higher than what the NCAA sets. South Carolina tried this and Spurrier cried like a little girl.

Crean had like 1 or 2 TOTAL Tourney wins at Marquette during a 9 year span without Dwayne Wade and I seriously doubt he'll hit the lottery jackpot again by finding another Wade. Wade wasn't a bigtime recruit coming out of the Chicago 'burbs. Realistically, a blind man could have coached Wade once his body grew into a physcial specimen in college. Hoosier Nation may love him now, but those fanatics will be calling for his head after multiple 1st and 2nd round Tourney exits.

bd40pe...Reasonble logic, but you're ignoring the FACT that powerhouse SEC programs outside of football benefit greatly from non-Southern recruits. Both Tennessee and Memphis(I know, C-USA) benefited from Big Ten country recruits in basketball last season. . Since you mentioned Charlotte, I'll point out that UNC and Duke have always recruited nationally and aren't just sticking to Carolina for recruits. In fact, North Carolina's past 2 national titles came on the back of dominate centers from Indiana(Montross and May). Tennessee womens hoops has always benefited from national talent. Parker is from Illinois. Ole Misses top pitcher last year was from Indiana. I'm sure the swimming, tennis, diving, track&field, etc. programs at SEC schools aren't completely Southern recruits.

Crean n' Crimson - Make up your damn mind! Do you use "we" in reference to Indiana U basketball while bragging about their greatness? You reversable jackets make me sick, especially considering Notre Dame could care less about the entire state of Indiana. They freaking sued a Catholic High School in Indy for using the Leprechan mascot.

Signed: Real Indiana Basketball AND Football fans!
Posted Monday June 02, 2008, About: Why Notre Dame AD left for Duke
Agree 100% bigdog. Weis was a genius when he was winning with the NFL talent Ty left in South Bend; however, it's all Ty's fault that the genius can' t coach the highly rated Freshmen, Sophomores, and Juniors he brought to ND to W's over teams like Air Force and Navy. There are plenty of college programs that succeed with young talent, so I'm not sure why the genius couldn't produce with the 3 recruiting classes he already had in South Bend by last season.

Huh? Center Grove is a fairly wealthy suburb of Indianapolis. Good pick up for Tech. His stats would be a lot better if Center Grove didn't run the Wing-T and share the wealth amongst ball carriers.

How much local talent did the Maryland recent National Title team have? It seems like Gary is striking out big time lately with the primo Baltimore and DC talent. Especially with Syracuse raiding Baltimore and Georgetown re-capturing the DC market.

LSU...Probably not even at 18. I think this cat was 20 by the time he graduated HS.

LSUDYNASTY.....Are you familiar with the Bush case at all? There's absolutely no proof whatsoever that USC orchestrated or even knew about Bush's ex-con of a stepfather taking money.
