How do you get the best pitcher on the planet without even including your organization's best prospect? Maybe Terry Ryan will come out of retirement now that his replacement has completely screwed the franchise. Good lord.
Posted Sunday January 20, 2008, About: Braves may move Kotsay in '09
Saying the "Braves may move Kotsay in '09" is inaccurate and misleading. The Chicago Tribune article did not suggest that because Phil Rogers undoubtedly knows that Kotsay is a free agent after the season. Seriously, how do you expect to have any credibility when the people who write your headlines are so clueless about the sports they cover?

Posted Tuesday October 30, 2007, About: A-Rod's Top Suitors
It's amazing how much crap A-Rod takes from fans. By all accounts, the guy works his butt off and he certainly produces on the field. Nor has he ever hung a teammate out to dry the way that Jeter did with him. Stop being jealous of the guy's money and quit criticizing him until he starts loafing or behaving like Barry Bonds.

And in terms of where he ends up, Anaheim makes the most sense. Obviously the price is going to be huge, but why is it that people have a problem with A-Rod getting paid a ridiculous amount of money when he actually puts up the numbers to justify it, unlike Barry Zito.

Who is Lou Carnesecca?
Posted Sunday July 15, 2007, About: Who's the highest-paid defender?
Bill Polian is the idiot. I don't know why the media keeps giving him such credit when he left two previous franchises in salary cap hell before abandoning them. He's set up Indianapolis for the same thing, so I imagine he will announce his "surprise" retirement in the next two years.

Freeney is a one dimensional player, and all this means is that legitimately great defensive ends like Julius Peppers will now require enormous contracts. Meanwhile the Colts will have to field a team of veteran minimum and undrafted players because they have so much cap tied up in their four stars. They better enjoy Joseph Addai while they have him too, because they certainly can't afford another extension.

"HOKIES RB weighs turning pro"? Oh good lord.
Posted Wednesday June 20, 2007, About: Nike won't dump Vick over dogfights
To clarify the statement above, a contract is legally binding but has various out clauses that the company can use. Presumably bad publicity like this would be reason enough, but it depends on the terms. My point was that some people are showing a complete lack of understanding by thinking that Vick somehow has to be found guilty of something before Nike could drop him. That's obviously ridiculous, so people should stop saying that.
Posted Wednesday June 20, 2007, About: Nike won't dump Vick over dogfights
Nike has no responsibility to wait for the legal process to play out. It's a contract, not a court of law. That said, Nike didn't sever its contract with Kobe during his rape investigation, so expecting them to do so with Vick is naive.
Posted Wednesday June 20, 2007, About: Kobe's scandalous video rips Lakers
SI should be ashamed for giving attention to the clowns behind this. I despise Kobe, but this entire "story" is ridiculous. Henry Luce is undoubtedly rolling in his grave over the travesty that Sports Illustrated has become.
