To answer your question without perpetuating the argument on the Pacman Jones thread, no the stop-loss clause in my contract was not exercised my the Department of Defense. However, no one is a victim of this clause. It is clearly stated every enlistment contract that during a time of conflict any service member can be extended in service if they are deemed to be an invaluable asset. In most cases they are extended to train the soldiers that are relieving them. This practice takes the "green" off of the relieving unit. Yes, I have shipmates who were extended. Did they complain? No. Sacrifice is part of the job. I know that this sounds like John Wayne but the only reason I am no longer in the Navy is that instead of tearing, my rotator cuff is unravelling. This cannot be fixed and I was not allowed to re enlist. I continue to believe that the war on terrorism is not a sprint but a marathon. I believe that the only way to stop terrorism is to doggedly pursue those who commit it and hold those accountable who allow amnesty to terrorists. I remember when this war was supported throughout our country, when the image of the world trade center was fresh. We as Americans have a very short memory because if you think that something similar can't happen again you are wrong. If America loses it's vigalence we will be in the same situation again.

Just read the comment you left on my Profile. I appreciated the humor and the lack of malice. I've only gotten into one political debate on T&R and I wish I hadn't. Not the right place. In fact, I don't like debating politics at all. We each hold to our core beliefs and we're not going to change that with debates. So we should leave well enough alone on T&R and stick to the Sports jabbing, which is fun.

You need to wake up and realize that classifying Yankee fans one way is basically the same as classifying black people one way. You preach "class" and tolerance, and you say we should remember Roberto Clemente for the way he fought racism. Maybe you should wake up and realize that what you're saying is equally as ridiculous as the Yankee fans booing Hawkins. Hawkins is an awful pitcher. We were booing him because he sucks.
