Like baseball, mom and apple pie nothing is more American than the Nathan’s Hot Dog eating contest held every fourth of July, but apparently the Major League Eating governing body has ruled that this year’s contest will be shortened from 12 minutes to 10 minutes, citing historical research that the original contest was ten minutes (other versions have the first 1916 contest at only three and a half minutes.)   I totally agree with Stephen Cannella. Baseball needs to get rid of the travesty that is interleague play.  Do you realize that the Boston Red Sox only play the New York Yankees 17 times this year? I think I speak for all of us when I say that that is not nearly enough. The sports media does not spend enough time covering Alex Rodriguez, Manny Ramirez, Derek Jeter and David Ortiz. Now you want to bring in teams from far-flung places like Arizona and Colorado to New York and Boston so they can draw media attention away? I don't think so. Just last night ESPN's Sports Center…
