I am the community manager at a website called TheFanYard.com, where we allow fans to have their say on the outcomes of football and basketball. Our users pick the team they believe will win, and by how much. We then aggregate all the data for each game and spit that data out in the form of what we have termed the Yardstick for that game. The Yardstick is an alternative to betting spreads, which are thought to represent the favorite team to win and by how much. In fact, betting spreads do not do this. The Yardstick does.
