Ah, remember when the Mets took 2 out of 3 against the Diamondbacks?  Everything was looking up, the team seemed confident about finishing off the west coast road trip on a positive note before coming back to Shea.  Pehaps there might even be less booing at Shea when they return on Friday to face the Reds.  It was all starting to come together.  Everyone from the media, to the manager, the players, the fans were looking forward to facing the Dodgers, who are certainly proving themselves to be a formidable team this year, but are behind the Diamondbacks in the…

Both the media and the Mets front office have made more of a fuss than there needs to be about the familiar sound of jeers at Shea Stadium.  The result of which is to overstate the obvious: Met fans are booing because the team isn't performing well and seems to be lacking the desire to compete.  The media relishes the fact that they have a punching bag in the Mets and in the Mets fans.  It gives them a convenient angle to portray the Mets as a hopeless overpaid and underperforming second fiddle team while Met fans get admonished for putting down their own players lacking the…
